Meet Maui

Meet our rescue pup, Maui!

Maui is an 8 month old German Shepherd mix. She is a rescue from the North West Georgia Humane Society. (Linking their website here if you're interested: https://hsnwga.org/)

My husband and I are both big dog lovers! My husband grew up with Labs as their family dogs, while I had smaller mixed breed dogs. We knew once we were married that we wanted to rescue a dog of our own! 8 short days after our wedding we took Maui home from the shelter to her forever home!

Maui has brought so much joy and love to our family. It's been a big adjustment to having a puppy in our home. She can be a lot of work at times! I feel like we are finally in a good routine, so I thought I would share that today. Everyday is different, but this is a pretty normal day for us!

7-7:30am - I get up with Maui in the morning. She immediately eats breakfast and goes outside for her first walk of the day.

7:30-8:30am - Maui follows me around the house as I get ready for the day and she plays with her toys. She loves Nyla bones!

9:00am - I start my work day and Maui goes into her cage. I highly recommend crate training, that has been so helpful for us!

11:30am - We take a short walk outside and she plays in the office.

12:00pm-1:00pm - This is Maui's longest walk of the day. We normally explore the trail near our house!

1:00pm- 3:00pm - Maui gets really tired after her walk, so she sleeps/ rests during this time. Sometime this is in her cage, sometimes it isn't.

3:00pm - Dinner time for Maui and then another walk outside.

5:00pm - Another walk outside. If the weather is nice we sit outside on our deck and enjoy the evening.

5:00pm-9:00pm - We hang out as a family! Sometimes we work on training Maui or we play together. She normally is tired in the evening, so she settles down on the couch or in her bed in the office.

9:30pm - Let Maui outside one last time and then she is asleep for the night!
